This course will focus on the initial verification and periodic inspection of installations:-
- New installations
- Alterations to an existing installation
- Additions to an existing installation
- Periodic inspections of existing installations
- Fault finding and repair of existing installations
This fast paced course is designed for Electricians who want to formalise their experience as “Inspectors”.
All electrical installation work must be carried out to the relative standards of the latest amendment of the Wiring Regulations. Therefore all electricians must be able to test and inspect not only their own work, but also work carried out by others to these standards.
The inspection and testing course will guide you through all aspects of the Inspection and Testing process.
You will need to bring a copy of GN3 (ISBN 978-1839532368), and a scientific calculator.

About the Course
The course is delivered over 5 consecutive days and includes all theory and practical training. The 3 hour practical assessment is carried out the following week on either a morning or afternoon session (arranged during the course).
Because practical training is incorporated into the course, please ensure that you bring Safety footwear to the centre for when we are in the workshop.
We have a variety of test instruments for use, including Megger 1721/30, Kewtech KT63/64/65/66, Fluke 1653, but you may wish to bring your own tester as long as it is calibrated.
Entrance requirements:-
- A solid understanding of the English Language.
- An up to date Wiring Regulations (currently BS 7671:2018+A2:2022)
- Experience carrying out Inspection & Testing
- A minimum of level 3 Electrical installation qualification (C&G or equivalent)
- It would also be expected that candidates have a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical science and principles, and experience of electrical installation work either within the electrical contracting industry or an allied trade. (Evidence of prior learning may be requested).
